The start of an amazingly fulfilling & exciting journey in medicine.
The beginning of a wonderfully exciting journey with life-partner Caroline (doctor, mother and partner extraordinaire!)
Ophthalmology has to be the ‘best’ speciality in medicine – no other operation can as positively and painlessly transform a patient’s life overnight as laser or cataract surgery can!
After 3 years of Fellowship training in two of the most prestigious eye hospitals (Moorfields –London, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute – Miami), Dr Gray returns with his family (Caroline –Breast Physician, Ashley – to become an Optometrist, Alastair – to become a Web Designer). Starting 20 years of Public Hospital Service and part-time private practice.
Having been instrumental in building up one of the largest group ophthalmology practices in New Zealand, Dr Trevor Gray branched out and set up his own boutique eye surgery practice focusing on his expertise in laser & cataract surgery to enhance patients’ lives.
As the business owner of Re:Vision, Dr Gray can now dedicate theatre and his Team to include philanthropic services to our community. Philanthropic activities include pro bono cataract surgery for patients denied access to Public Hospital surgery, pro bono laser vision correction for tetraplegics, annual funding of 18 girls & boys from low-decile schools into top private schools. Funding research and post-graduate education through the University of Auckland Ophthalmology and Optometry Departments. Many other activities focused on delivering more equitable education, from early childhood to university entry.
